  • A: No, any money given to The Shaw Project fund within the Beaver County Foundation will only be used for capital improvement projects at Shaw Park in Beaver. The fund at the foundation is earmarked as such.

  • A: We are confident that our funding plan is feasible. The funding plan relies on a diverse portfolio, including private philanthropy, corporate sponsorships, private and public grants, and portions of the project completed by the Beaver Borough*.

A new pool is our top, top priority! Everything possible will be done to fund the entire park vision with an emphasis on a new pool; however, if enough money is not raised to cover the costs of the entire project after the 3-year campaign (2023-25) ends, received donations will be used to fund smaller capital projects at Shaw Park which could include scaled-back versions of the suggested park renovations in the 2020 feasibility study.

    * A part of the park plan is already funded and underway: the first phase of the new community space at the former pool house. Beaver Borough is funding this community center primarily through federal relief dollars that had to be used for a 2023 shovel-ready project. This community space is a key part of the Shaw Park Project's overall vision and plan and will serve as a vital anchor for the park! No money from the Shaw Park Project’s fund at the Beaver County Foundation is being used for the community or performance space since it is being taken on 100% by the Beaver Borough.

  • A: Engineering Planning and Design completed the site’s feasability study for Shaw Park including a brand new pool complex as well as a conceptual design for the entire park.

The Shaw Park vision is split into three phases.

The Current Phase: New Pool and Bath House has an estimated ballpark cost of $3.9MM. This includes the new pool, bathhouse, and detailed engineering, design, and project management.

The detailed pool design and engineering work will progress as the campaign revenue benchmarks are reached.

  • Yes! We have a group from our team specifically available to share more about the vision, and details of the campaign, and answer any questions! Reach out to us at hello@shawparkbeaver.org to get more info or set up a time to meet.

General Questions

  • A: The Shaw Park Project is a joint effort between the Beaver Borough, the volunteers serving on the leadership team, and the Beaver County Foundation. The Shaw Park Project team is made up of volunteers from Beaver, Brighton Township, and other surrounding communities. Visit shawparkproject.com/team to view our active team! All of the individuals on the team are serving as volunteers.

  • A: Yes! Part of the Shaw Park conceptual design is a new community center/event space. Beaver Borough was able to dedicate funds from a federal relief package to complete the first phase of the former poolhouse gut renovation, and the first phase of this renovation should be completed in 2024. Once finished, this space will be suitable for meetings, birthday parties, family reunions, you name it, and include a catering space, restrooms, and AV equipment. Beaver Borough has put forth significant effort to steward this project well, keep it affordable, and complete the first updated feature of a revamped Shaw Park. The Beaver Borough is taking on the entirety of this portion of the park plan, and no money is being spent for these renovations (including the performance lawn) from the Shaw Park Project’s fund at the Beaver County Foundation.

  • A: The pool will be shifted slightly down towards the parking lot/tennis courts. CLICK HERE to see the zoomed-in updated conceptual drawing. This leaves space further west for a concert venue/bandstand flush against the new community space in the renovated pool house. That concert space is part of a larger vision for a revamped park as a center for community engagement.

  • A: No! Like the other parks in Beaver, the public park and pool will be open and available to all, regardless of your residence, and this new facility will be a tremendous asset for the entire region. We are excited for a 21st-century pool and park facilities available to any person who wants to visit a recreational space in the heart of Beaver County.

  • Great question! Exact admission and season pool pass fees will be determined prior to the start of each swim season by the pool leadership, which will include the Beaver Borough, as they own the property and facilities and are responsible for the ongoing park maintenance and associated costs. In alignment with the mission of a public pool and park, we are committed to ensuring that admission is reasonable and implementing creative solutions to ensure the admission fees are not cost-prohibitive and that all who desire to can enjoy the new recreational spaces. We expect admission costs to the public pool to be similar to other public pools in Western PA and fees will not be tiered based on residency for Beaver County residents.

  • A: Yes! We have received an overwhelming amount of positive support and feedback from local officials, including from neighboring municipalities who are eager to have these brand-new swim and pool facilities available for their residents and neighbors. In addition to having verbal support from local officials, we have signed letters of support for the project from Brighton Township, Vanport, Rochester, State Rep Josh Kail (PA District 15), State Senator Elder Vogel (PA District 47), the Beaver County Commissioners, and a resolution passed by Beaver Borough in favor of the project. We encourage you to reach out to your local town council members, township supervisors, county commissioners, and state representatives to thank them for their support and continue to express to them the importance of this project for you as a constituent. You can find your local representatives HERE.
